HOW TO DRESS BABY IN SUMMER?
Tartine et Chocolat, the French children's fashion house, is with you for baby's first summer moments with its lovely selection of clothes and essentials. Discover our advice to help baby make the most of summer without suffering from the heat.
DRESSING BABY
During their first years, babies do not regulate their body temperature properly because water was baby's natural environment during mum's pregnancy. It is therefore advisable to always plan an extra light layer for baby, whatever the season. Even in summer when it is very hot, babies need to be covered to feel secure. A layer of clothing will also absorb baby's sweat and help regulate their temperature.

IN SPRING
In spring, bundle up your little one in a denim jacket, perfect for mid-season and ideal for any occasion. Also, for a city outing, you can dress baby in an elegant trench coat. We love wearing it with trousers or a Long outfit. For dancing in the rain, opt for water-repellent and waterproof jackets to protect baby in all weathers. Discover our lovely selection of windbreakers and k-way in spring colours, a mid-season essential.

THE FIRST RAYS OF SUNSHINE
During the first months, infants spend most of their time sitting or lying down; to promote comfort and development, choose clothes that cover their tummy. Baby is very sensitive to draughts, so slip a Body under a pretty dress or dungarees to cover their tummy without getting too warm. Also, to facilitate baby's movement, make sure not to fasten the nappy too tightly and position it at the bottom of baby's tummy.

SUMMER COLOURS
In summer, during heatwaves, opt for light-coloured clothing: Beige, white, Ecru or pastel shades. Light colours attract less light than dark shades, so baby will stay cool more easily.

A LITTLE SHADE
Hats and caps are baby's summer essentials. It is very important to always protect baby's head during their first family outings at the beach to keep them safe. Discover our lovely selection of caps, hats and bucket hats to cover little ones' heads.

FEET IN THE SAND
If you are heading off on holiday by the sea, make sure to pack the little holidaymaker's essentials: a wide-brimmed hat, age-appropriate sunglasses and high-protection sun cream to protect baby's face, body and neck. On the beach, it is recommended to dress infants to best protect them from the sun, with a swim nappy, a swimsuit or UV-protective clothing. Also, for baby's health, remember to hydrate them regularly during the day with a water bottle, even if they do not ask for it.

BABY'S SKIN
Your little one sweats in summer which may irritate their skin; choose soft and noble materials to preserve baby's softness. Tartine et Chocolat has designed premium quality products and an organic collection and hypoallergenic range to protect baby's health.

SUMMER NIGHTS
On summer nights, baby's outfit should be lighter so they don't get too hot while sleeping. When temperatures are between 22 and 24°C, you can dress baby in a short-sleeved Body, jersey cotton pajamas or a light summer sleeping bag. When temperatures exceed 25/26°C at night, it is advisable to leave baby in a Body or a t-shirt and nappy so they can sleep peacefully.
