Why use a sleeping bag for baby?

The sleeping bag is recommended to support babies’ sleep. Unlike a traditional blanket, it stays securely in place throughout the night and allows baby to move freely while maintaining a comfortable temperature.

Nightwear suited to baby’s needs

During sleep, baby does not yet regulate their body temperature perfectly. Choosing a suitable sleeping bag therefore provides the necessary warmth without the risk of overdressing them.

The sleeping bag thus becomes a true point of reference, associated with calm moments and bedtime rituals.

Which material should you choose for a baby sleeping bag?

Choosing the right material is essential to ensure everyday softness and comfort.

Cotton: a soft, breathable material

Soft against the skin, breathable and easy to care for, cotton is perfectly suited to little ones’ sensitive skin. A cotton sleeping bag accompanies baby throughout the year thanks to its natural comfort and ability to let air circulate.

Linen: a lightweight, natural material

Linen appeals for its thermoregulating properties. Lightweight in summer and pleasant in between seasons, it helps maintain a feeling of freshness while adding a touch of timeless elegance.

Velvet: a soft, comforting material

Soft to the touch and naturally warm, velvet provides an ideal feeling of comfort for nights and rest times. Velvet sleeping bags are perfectly suited to cooler seasons.

What thickness should you choose for a sleeping bag?

The thickness of a sleeping bag should mainly be chosen according to the bedroom temperature and the season. We recommend using our sleeping bags in a bedroom temperature between 19 and 22 degrees.

The lightweight sleeping bag for summer

When temperatures rise, choose a lightweight, breathable sleeping bag. Natural materials such as cotton or linen help baby stay comfortable on warmer nights.

The warm sleeping bag for winter

In winter, a warmer sleeping bag helps protect baby from the cold while maintaining a comfortable temperature. Lined models or those made from more enveloping materials are particularly suited to cooler periods.

What size sleeping bag should you choose for baby?

Choosing a sleeping bag suited to baby’s size is essential to ensure comfort and freedom of movement during sleep.

At Tartine et Chocolat, sleeping bags are available in two sizes:

  • Size 1 – 70 cm: suitable for babies aged 3 to 9 months. This size supports baby through their first stages, offering comfort perfectly suited to their body shape.
  • Size 2 – 90 cm: designed for children aged 12 to 24 months, this size follows their development while giving them the freedom they need to move during sleep.

To choose the right sleeping bag, it is important to consider baby’s age, as well as their height and body shape. A suitable sleeping bag promotes their everyday wellbeing.

How should you care for a baby sleeping bag?

To preserve the quality of the fibres, we recommend a gentle wash at 30°C. To maintain the fabric’s appearance and shape over time:

  • Use a mild detergent suitable for delicate textiles;
  • Avoid bleaching products that may damage the fibres;
  • Choose natural drying, as tumble drying is not recommended;
  • Iron at a low temperature if necessary, without using steam;
  • Avoid dry cleaning.

Proper care helps preserve the softness of materials and supports baby night after night with a comfortable, durable sleeping bag.

How can you create an environment conducive to baby’s sleep?

The sleeping bag is part of a true bedtime ritual. Paired with soft baby bed linen, a calming bedroom and essentials such as pyjamas and hats, it helps create a reassuring space for nights and naps.

Comforters and soft toys also help create a comforting environment for baby. True everyday companions, they bring a touch of softness and become familiar points of reference in bedtime rituals.

Natural materials, soft colours and refined details create a harmonious world in which baby can thrive peacefully.
