When should baby wear a beanie?

A newborn's head accounts for a large part of their body's surface area; covering it helps them retain warmth when the air turns chilly, whether on a pushchair outing or a walk in the park. Indoors, remove the beanie so baby does not get too warm, and do not leave it on while they sleep. In cold weather, pair it with one of our baby boy coats and cosy slippers, so their hands and feet are as well protected as the rest of their body.

What size beanie should you choose for a baby boy?

Our beanies come in sizes T0 to T3. As a guide, T0 fits 0-1 months (head circumference 40 to 42 cm), T1 fits 1-3 months (42 to 44 cm), T2 fits 6-9 months and 1 year (46 to 48 cm), and T3 fits 18 months and 2-3 years (48 to 50 cm). T0 is the newborn beanie to pack in your hospital bag alongside baby's first pajamas. For the larger sizes, measure baby's head just above the eyebrows, without pulling the tape measure tight.

Cotton or cashmere: a baby boy beanie for every season

In the transitional seasons, cotton is enough to protect against the evening breeze: light twill, plain cotton or organic cotton for the Ecru design. When colder weather arrives, Tartine et Chocolat turns to cashmere in marl grey or Ecru, while the earflap design protects little ears on windy days. Warmer printed velvet brings warmth to the blue tones of the Toile de Jouy. Each beanie thus matches the colours of our baby boy clothes, from sky blue to navy.
